Iran award event to honor acting legend

Iran-based Hafez Awards is due to honor the country's ever popular veteran actor Mohammad Ali Keshavarz.

The 17th edition of the Iranian award is to honor the veteran stage, screen and Televsion actor for his lifetime artistic activities.

Mohammad Ali Keshavarz has graduated from the Tehran University Faculty of Dramatic Arts.

He began his acting career with the play 'Violinmaker' in 1960 and professional acting with plays such as 'Uncle Vanya', 'Antigone', and 'Oedipus the King'.

In 1968, he took to the small screen and played in series including 'Lady Qamar's House', followed by 'Uncle Napoleon' (1975), 'Hezar Dastan' (1979-1987), 'Sarbedaran' (1984), 'Sultan and the Shepherd' (1981-1984), 'The Wolves' (1986-1987), 'The Patriarch' (1993-1994), 'The Young Lawyers' (1995-1996), 'Seasoned Rider' (1997), 'Youth' (2001), 'Lighter Than Darkness' (1999-2002), 'A House in the Dark' (2002), 'The Unfamiliar Scent of Autumn' (2004), 'The Way of Infatuation' (2004), and 'Night Path' (2006).

Keshavarz has also appeared in movies such as 'Mr. Simpleton' (1970), 'The Last Supper' (1976), 'Kamal-ol-Molk' (1983), 'The Man Who Became a Mouse' (1985), 'Mirza Nowruz's Shoes' (1985), 'Jafar Khan Returns from Abroad' (1987), 'Nassereddin Shah Film Actor' (1991), 'The Devoted' (1991), 'The Fateful Day' (1994), 'Ghazal' (1995), 'The Legion' (1998), and 'Waiting' (2000).

He was nominated for a Fajr Film Festival Crystal Simorgh for Best Male Actor for his role in 'Mother' (1989).

The 17th edition of the Hafez Awards is slated be held in August 2017.
